Coloured Greys | Sock Club 2018

March - April - May - 2018

2 special colourways a month

Coloured Greys is an exploration of the magic that occurs when colour meets grey. While each colourway will remain a mystery until it reaches your doorstep, I can tell you that a wide range of greys will be explored (think white grey to charcoal grey) and will include various shades of colour. Coloured greys are some of my favourite colourways to create and I cannot wait to share these six new ones with you!

Even though multiple colours/greys may be used in each skein, you can expect beautiful, sophisticated colourways that are not speckled nor blotchy in nature. Special attention will be given to how they look together should you wish to use more than one in a project. A handful of club colourways may be released as future full time colourways at a later date. Combined shipping is available for those who wish to double up their skeins. If doubling you will receive TWO skeins of each of the two colourways per month.

Please visit this listing for club pricing. All pricing is in Canadian Dollars and the full balance for the club is due at check out. Applicable taxes extra, all import and duty fees are the responsibility of the recipient. All Sweet Fiber sock club memberships are a final sale. Sock club arrival times may vary depending on your location.

Cashmere DK + Amber Ale by Thea Colman

Cashmere DK Pre-Orders Are Here!

A couple times a year I open up pre-orders for the highly coveted Sweet Fiber Cashmere DK. Made with 100% cashmere this yarn is the definition of hand dyed luxury. Perfect for cowls, mitts, hats, scarves, and pretty much anything else you'd like to wrap yourself in!  This yarn is a pre-order and will ship during the week listed.

Amber Ale by Thea Colman - New Yarn Kits!

Thea Colman of BabyCocktails has designed a beautiful scarf just in time for Fall! Her latest design, Amber Ale, uses 4 skeins of Cashmere DK in Spiced Pumpkin. The distinct geometric lines in this pattern give some texture to the lace and makes following the motif easier than you’d think. Simple ribs edge the main panel and play off the tips of the final diamond shapes. It’s big and wide, but not so big that it can’t be tucked into a coat or worn with a blazer as an indoor accessory, and it drapes and falls perfectly around your shoulders.

Want a chance it see it in person? We'll have it on display at our Knit City booth this October!

Our New Online Shop & Dyed To Order Options!

We've been working pretty hard over here at the Sweet Fiber Studio for the last few months trying to catch up on wholesale orders, prepping for a new sock club, planning our trip to the Knitters' Frolic in Toronto, all while working out the kinks and figuring out what works best in our new space. We'll be doubling our dyeing capacity later this week with new stoves and equipment to hopefully speed up our turn around times in the future.

I'm excited to announce we have reformatted our online shop to make it an easier process for everyone! You can now create an account if you wish to speed up the check out process, view your past orders and keep track of those on the way to you. Paypal is now once again our primary form of payment, with the added bonus of being able to use Paypal Express Checkout. I'm also happy to share that gift cards are now available for purchase and arrive via email, so be sure to add us to your next gift wish list!

In honour of our new online shop and a very special Tin Can Knits pattern release later today, I've added a limited amount of Dyed to Order stock for our Super Sweet Sock and Cashmerino 20 base yarns. Dyed to order yarns take approximately 3-4 weeks to ship once ordered.

Sweet Fiber Accessories E-book Launch!

Set along the banks of the Fraser River in historic Fort Langley, this collection captures the spirit of the West Coast in seven cool weather knits. Twisting cables, deep ribs, traveling lace and textured stitches bring your favourite worsted weight hand dyes to life as cozy cowls, warm toques and an asymmetrical lace shawl.

All of the patterns include both written and charted instruction. The entire e-book is available for purchase on Ravelry, as well as individual pattern downloads for those of you who just want a few. Be sure to join us in our Ravelry Group to discuss which patterns you plan to make and to share pictures of your FOs when you're done!

The entire collection has been designed with our two favourite worsted weight yarns! Our Merino Twist Worsted consists of 100% superwash merino and our Cashmerino Worsted is created with an extra special blend of superwash merino, cashmere and nylon. Both have 180 meters / 200 yards per 115 gram skein and are entirely interchangeable with one another. We've updated our online shop to coincide with the release of the new e-book. If you don't see your favourite colourway available, don't worry - we're already busy dyeing more! Be sure to join our mailing list to stay informed when new stock is added to the shop.

Caramel Slouch by Alexa Ludeman of Tin Can Knits

Wellington by Jane Richmond

"This textural hat features a simple repeating pattern reminiscent of raindrops. Using a unique combination of stitches to mimic the look of a cabled honey comb stitch without the need of a cable needle, this stitch pattern only looks difficult. Inspired by the rainy weather indicative of west coast winters, this hat satisfies both form and function."

Lolli Socks

Lolli Socks are a blend of candy inspired colours that create organic stripes and swirls when knit up as socks. Reminiscent of neon slouch socks and mouth watering hard candies these bright socks are sure to knock your shoes off!

While creating Lolli Socks we wanted something fun and stripey without losing the qualities that make hand dyed yarns so great. Each stripe is a little different as one colour transitions into the next and the results are stunning. Here at the Sweet Fiber Studio we've found a 64 stitch sock circumference (at a gauge of approx. 28sts/4") to work beautifully. But please feel free to experiment, there's so many possibilities!

Lolli Socks will be available in two of our favourite sock yarns:

Lolli Socks SSS (aka Super Sweet Sock) 379m/415y per 155 gram skein Lolli Socks MCN (aka Cashmerino Sock) 340m/372y per 115 gram skein

Lolli Socks are available online at the Sweet Fiber Shop.

Welcome to Sweet Fiber Yarns

Two summers ago we began our journey of the hand dyed. Taking our love of luxury yarns and our artistic knowledge of colour we began experimenting and perfecting. We first became known as Yarn Candy, Sweet Fiber and and this spring we'll be transitioning into our new identity, Sweet Fiber Yarns. Our original yarns and colourways will be continued as we introduce new ones this coming spring. Here's a sneak peak at our new tags...
