Cashmerino Worsted Is Back!

After a lengthy hiatus our Cashmerino Worsted base is now back in stock and available for pre-order in the Sweet Fiber online shop! This is one of our most loved, most requested base yarns of all time and is also one of the hardest for me to get. Quantities are limited and I suspect it won’t be around for very long. Now’s the perfect time to stock up and get started on your Fall knits!

Many of my cool weather accessories have been designed using this gorgeous yarn!

Sunlit Shawl Kits Are Here!

Sunlit Shawl Kits Are Here!

I’m happy to announce that one of our most requested kits is now available for pre-order in the Sweet Fiber online shop! For this round of Sunlit Shawl kits, I have hand picked 27 colourways that look absolutely amazing on Avery Sport and Silk Cashmere Lace!

Sunlit Shawl is a light, airy shawl inspired by the sun and the way its beams navigate through and around the natural world. Semi circle in shape, Sunlit Shawl uses two silk blend yarns of the same colourway and different weights to create a stunning burnout effect. The shawl starts at the top center and works out to the main body and striping, finishing with a picot bind off. There is enough yarn included in the kit to increase the size of your shawl, should you wish to do so.

This yarn kit includes:

2 skeins of Avery Sport (50% Merino, 50% Silk - 329m/360y per 95g skein)
1 skein of Silk Cashmere Lace (55% Silk, 45% Cashmere - 366m/400y per 50g skein)

The Sunlit Shawl pattern must be purchased separately and can be found here.

Sweet Fiber Sock Club 2015!

sign-ups now open!

After a brief hiatus in 2014, I'm happy to announce that our annual Sweet Fiber Sock Club is back! Join us this summer as I create exciting colourways for our new line of variegated sock yarn colours coming this Fall. Now's your chance to be one of the first to get their hands on some of these unique colourways and a few experiments that will only be available in this club.

The colourways are top secret for now and will only be revealed once everyone has received their monthly package. There will be colourways for everyone in this club, from shocking pinks and ocean blues to stunning neutrals, and each colourway will love grey in a way I can't quite yet reveal. For those of you in search of a hint, I've included a few drawings of what will be inspiring the colourways in this year's logo. And for those of you following sweetfiber on Instagram, you may have notice a particular post of a certain sock I've been working on. It is currently unconfirmed if it will in fact be an official sock club colourway, but it does point in the direct that this year's club will be going in. Okay, enough hints! This is top secret stuff.

In addition to gorgeous sock yarn I have some fabulous extras planned for this year, including coordinating stitch markers and a very special custom printed bag by yours truly. We'll also be running a "Sock-A-Long" over in the Sweet Fiber Lounge Ravelry group with a chance to win some exciting prizes. And to top it off, each month will include a very special coupon code for the Sweet Fiber online shop!

Club memberships go on sale Friday, April 10th at 5pm pacific / 8pm eastern in our new online shop. There are a limited number of memberships available so be sure to sign up early to guarantee your spot! You may wish to create an account early to help speed up the checkout process.

Below you'll find the break down of the club pricing. Due to the extra labour and time required to create each uniquely variegated colourway they will cost slightly more than our regular Super Sweet Sock colourways. All pricing is in Canadian Dollars and the full balance for the club is due at check out. For those of you purchasing from the US, you will notice you end up paying significantly less as the result of the current CAD/USD exchange rate. Due to the nature of a monthly sock club, all Sweet Fiber club memberships are a final sale. If you have any questions about this club, be sure to email us before Friday and we'll get back to you as soon as we can!

Our New Online Shop & Dyed To Order Options!

We've been working pretty hard over here at the Sweet Fiber Studio for the last few months trying to catch up on wholesale orders, prepping for a new sock club, planning our trip to the Knitters' Frolic in Toronto, all while working out the kinks and figuring out what works best in our new space. We'll be doubling our dyeing capacity later this week with new stoves and equipment to hopefully speed up our turn around times in the future.

I'm excited to announce we have reformatted our online shop to make it an easier process for everyone! You can now create an account if you wish to speed up the check out process, view your past orders and keep track of those on the way to you. Paypal is now once again our primary form of payment, with the added bonus of being able to use Paypal Express Checkout. I'm also happy to share that gift cards are now available for purchase and arrive via email, so be sure to add us to your next gift wish list!

In honour of our new online shop and a very special Tin Can Knits pattern release later today, I've added a limited amount of Dyed to Order stock for our Super Sweet Sock and Cashmerino 20 base yarns. Dyed to order yarns take approximately 3-4 weeks to ship once ordered.

New kits: Gideon shawl + worsted weight trios

Gideon by Melissa Schaschwary

A soothing triangle shawl, with minimal, yet effective texture which demonstrates that sometimes less is more. This beautiful shawl combines two of our favourite worsted weight yarns, Cashmerino Worsted and Merino Twist Worsted. Melissa Schaschwary combines the rustic Bruin and the gorgeous Ever Grey for her version of this stunning shawl.

[ Instagram giveaway, win a free kit! ]

I've put together several yarn kit combinations that I think capture the beauty of the original design, they can all be found right here in the shop.

worsted weight trios: 3 skeins, 3 ways

Our worsted weight trios are bundles of three skeins in three different colourways, perfect for a group of single skein accessories or colourwork combos. Trios are currently available in both our Cashmerino Worsted and Merino Twist Worsted bases. Each base has five different colour combinations up for grabs, including the mystery + sequoia + marshland combination that was used for three of our hats designs in the Sweet Fiber Accessories e-book.

studio update: Cashmerino 20 Pre-Order & Stitch Markers!

It's been a rather slow start to 2015 here at the new Sweet Fiber Studio. However, I am happy to announce that things are becoming more functional and efficient with each passing day as I find new systems and set ups that work in our new space. There are still a few boxes left to unpack in between test dyes and reshuffling, but it's exciting to feel like I am finally getting somewhere with all of this. It has been surprisingly challenging to move from a small but familiar and efficiently set up space to a much larger one with nothing in it. The potential this new space holds for growth and productivity has definitely kept me focused through all of the craziness that comes with moving your home and your work at the same time. While I work out the kinks, I've been putting together an exciting line-up of new kits, pre-order and clubs for the coming months. But more on that later!

The online shop has officially re-opened today with stitch markers and a Cashmerino 20 pre-order. I've had a lot of requests for the neon jelly stitch markers I sell at shows and am excited to announce they are now available online! Each rubber ring is smooth and flexible, making it easy to slip along with your knitting. In addition, I've set up the first pre-order of the year. Cashmerino 20 is a super soft merino (70%), cashmere (20%), nylon (10%) blend and is perfect for socks, shawls, lightweight tops and anything else you'd like to wrap yourself in. It's available for pre-order in all of our 45+ colourways (while quantities last). Pre-orders will ship in approximately 4 weeks from the date of order.

New Yarn & Colourways for Spring 2014

This past month I've been putting together a collection of new Spring 2014 colourways and working with a new base yarn. The new colourways are a collection of six colours I have been experimenting with for awhile now. I'm excited to be able to offer them full time on all of our bases for both wholesale orders and pre-sale orders. They're light, refreshing and perfect for spring.

These colourways have been photographed on our newest yarn, Coastal. Coastal is a luxurious 50/50 blend of superwash merino and silk. It knits as both a dk and light worsted weight and can be used for almost any project. The silk gives it shimmer, drape and strength while the merino adds loft and body. It really is the perfect blend.
